Alamitos Beach is a coastal neighborhood that is located at the southern part of Long Beach, California. This community has a wide sandy beach along the Pacific ocean to its south. The beach includes the Long Beach bicycle path that starts at Shoreline Village and ends in the Belmont Shore neighborhood of Long Beach.
This coastal neighborhood is densely residential. Large condominium buildings can be found along the beach, whereas smaller condominiums, apartments, and single-family residences can be found further inland.
The Alamitos Beach neighborhood was planned and established in the 1920s, which is why many of the buildings in this area date back to that era. Its urban yet human-scale neighborhood makes this section of Long Beach unique among beach communities in Los Angeles and the neighboring Orange Counties.
Alamitos Beach is known for its colorful nightlife and its active LGBT community. The Broadway Corridor business district houses many well-established bars, restaurants, and other businesses. The shops and restaurants along Shoreline Village and the Pike are also just a stone’s throw away.
